Welcome Spring with a Concert at
BREC’s Independence Park Theatre
Spring is almost here and winter is nearly over. Welcome the season
of sunshine, warmth and blossoms with music. Through a partnership
with BREC, the Baton Rouge Concert Band (BRCB) performs its annual
Spring Concert on Sunday, March 14 at 3 p.m. at BREC’s Independence
Park Theatre. Support Baton Rouge’s l ocal talent and treat yourself
and your family to a great musical performance. Admission is free.
BRCB is a non-profit community organization dedicated to the
cultural enrichment and entertainment of the Greater Baton Rouge
area. Under the direction of Sheily Bell, conductor, and Wesley
McCoy, assistant conductor, the BRCB is composed of approximately 55
local musicians who volunteer their time and talents to bring
delightful musical entertainment to the community. The band’s
dedicated musicians are a collective group of fine, artistic
performers who come from all walks of life. They are doctors,
lawyers, music teachers, educators, journalists, accountants,
chemists, engineers, retired citizens, college students, homemakers
and many others.

Don your best hat for SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED, the Baton Rouge Symphony
League’s 2010 Mad Hatter’s Luncheon. This year’s grand affair will
be held at the Crown Plaza on Saturday, March 20th. In keeping with
the theme, co-chairs, Carole Fredrickson and Caress Threadgill
decided to really shake things up and move the event from the
traditional Monday to Saturday - making it possible for more to
enjoy the fun! Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. for shopping at the
event’s many fabulous vendors.
Celebrity judges will face the challenge of hat judging beginning at
10:00 a.m. “Bonded” themes for this year’s hats are Diamonds are
Forever, Goldfinger, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Man with the
Golden Gun and Thunderball. The ballroom doors open at 11:00 a.m.
for luncheon seating, to be followed by the much anticipated fashion
show. If the World is Not Enough , then SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED might
