 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
 

Pelican State Credit Union was a Gold Sponsor of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Baton Rouge this month. In addition to being the only financial institution to sponsor this event, Pelican had a team of 65 survivors and supporters who volunteered to participate. Pelican’s contribution to this event totaled over $6,200.
Despite the cold weather, Pelican team members wore their brown and pink team t-shirts to support the research and treatment of breast cancer. Participants stayed after the race to enjoy the food and festivities.
Over 8,000 residents participated in this annual event. 75% of the proceeds stay in the Baton Rouge Area to support local breast cancer treatments and screenings while the remaining 25% goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. For more information on this charity, visit www.komen.org .
