Baton Rouge International School (BR
Intl), an independent non-profit American school offering a
multi-lingual program along with technology education and a rigorous
international curriculum, held its 10 year anniversary celebration and
"Flavors of the World" Gala on Saturday, April 24, 2009 at the Louisiana
State Museum from 7pm to midnight.
The Gala featured an evening of international dining by local
restaurants, as well as a silent auction that included a private
Oktoberfest to be held at the Mockler Beverage facility and vacation
trips to exotic destinations. Great Lain band Vivaz and the ever popular
DJ Bird had everyone dancing to a global beat.
Mayor Melvin "Kip" Holden, who attended the Gala with other dignitaries,
greeted the audience and expressed his support for the international
diversity and education BR Intl has contributed to the Greater Baton
Rouge area. "The Gala has grown tremendously and has proven to be a
great way for the community to interact culturally, and enjoy some of
our local area restaurants and musical talent", said Nathalie Guyon,
Head of School. All of the funds raised directly support the growth of
the school, including its community outreach programs.
