Capital Area CASA Association’s
dedicated volunteers were honored for their work with abused and
neglected children at the 2009 Holiday Open House held December 8 at
the CASA office. CASA’s Board of Directors and staff hosted the
event, which
recognizes volunteers for their efforts throughout the year to help
foster children reach a safe and permanent home.
Guests were greeted with holiday carols sung by the Big Buddy
Children’s Choir. Dishes prepared by board members and staff created
a delicious spread of hors d’eouvres and deserts for volunteers to
enjoy. Volunteers took home an ornament from CASA’s Christmas tree,
in appreciation of each individual’s contribution to CASA’s mission.

Thanks to the generosity of several local donors, including Kappa
Alpha Theta, Guaranty Group employees, the Nubian Kruzers United
Motorcycle Club, Learning Express and Gaupp-Wozniak Communications,
volunteers were able to choose holiday gift for their CASA
children.National Charity League volunteers, who wrapped gifts,
greeted guests and staffed the kitchen throughout the evening, also
helped to make the event a great way to thank CASA
volunteers.
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. Capital Area CASA
Association volunteers serve as a voice for abused and neglected
children in court.
