St. Luke's Episcopal Day School
placed in the top 30 schools in the 2008-2009 ALA-LA-MISS Mathematics
League Contest. The sixth grade took 10th place in the 3 state regional
exam. Two fifth grade students, Gavin Perkins and Alex Dunbar, achieved
the 6th and 7th highest scores respectively within the tri-state region.
Eighty-one percent of the 8th graders received commended scores. Those
students are Kimberly Key, Grant Robicheaux, Alexis Rush, Lucy Farrar,
M'Elise Saloman, Emilee Root, Jaime Thomas, Ryan Dejean, Nicole Newton,
Katie Keller, Erik Thompson and Graham Nichols.
Seventy-nine percent of the 7th graders received commended scores. Those
students are Alexandra Dupre, Madison McClaren, Katie Tuttle, Conner
Perryman, Caleb Porter, Leslie St. Pierre, Nicholas Coxe, Maddie Jones,
Austin James, Kimberly Kinsey and Madeline Parker.
Sixty-three percent of the 6th graders received commended scores. Those
students are Jared Swetnam, Marygrace Duggar, Rachel Seidel, Austin
Causey, Anna Spring, Ashton Eymard, Alida Babcock and Lauren Honeycutt,
Monty Travis, Ben Whitley, George Kennedy-Stone, Payton Palmer, Anna Lee
Ingold and Will Adams.
All three of the 5th grade students taking 6th grade math received
commended scores. Those students are Gavin Perkins, Alex Dunbar and Mary
Beth Barksdale.
Sixty-four schools in the Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi competed in
this year's contest.
